Do you like dogs? Are you old enough to drink? Then you will enjoy making dog cocktails and other dog-inspired drinks. Any responsible, hardworking, and healthy adult has the luxury of enjoying an alcoholic drink from time to time. Moderate alcohol intake (1-2 drinks a day) is a nice way to blow off some steam, meet new people, and may even reduce your chances of developing heart disease according to the Mayo Clinic.

Here are some dog-inspired alcoholic beverage recipes you could try this weekend:

1. Big Dog Cocktail

Big Dog Cocktail


  • 1 oz. Kahlua® coffee liqueur
  • 1.5  oz. vodka
  • 4 oz. milk
  • 1 splash Pepsi®

Pour the Kahlua and vodka over ice in a glass. Then fill the remainder of the glass with milk. Top it off with Pepsi. Stir.

2. Black Dog Cocktail


  • 3 oz. light rum
  • .5 oz. dry vermouth

Mix the light rum and dry vermouth in a glass with ice. Strain and pour the mixture into a chilled glass. Finally, garnish with black olive.

3. Blue Dog Cocktail


  • 2 oz. Skyy® vodka
  • 5 oz. grapefruit juice

Mix the Skyy® vodka and the grapefruit juice in a cup and then pour the concoction over ice in a chilled glass.

4. Devil Dog Cocktail


  • 3 oz. Jose Cuervo® gold tequila
  • 5 oz. unsweetened grapefruit juice

Pour the Jose Cuervo® gold tequila and the unsweetened grapefruit juice over ice in a chilled glass. Enjoy!


5. Dirty Dog Cocktail


  • 1 oz. Hennessy® cognac
  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • 5 oz. chilled orange juice
  • 1 oz. chilled cranberry juice

Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake well, strain, and then serve in a chilled glass.

6. Fuzzy Dog


  • 1 shot peach schnapps
  • 1 shot amaretto almond liqueur
  • 1 shot coconut rum
  • Orange juice

Pour each shot of peach schnapps, amaretto almond liqueur, coconut rum, and orange juice over ice. Fill the glass with orange juice.

7. Mad Dog Cocktail

Mad Dog Cocktail


  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. cherry juice
  • 1 drop Tabasco® sauce

To make this drink, you must layer the cherry juice, vodka, and then the Tabasco sauce over ice.

8. Red Dog Cocktail


  • .5 oz. orange vodka
  • 2 oz. Crown Royal® Canadian whisky
  • 3 oz. ginger ale
  • 1.5 oz. orange juice
  • 1.5 oz. cranberry juice

Add the orange vodka, Canadian whisky, orange juice, and cranberry juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake, strain, and then pour over an ice-filled glass with the ginger ale.

9. Salty Dog Cocktail


  • 6 oz. grapefruit juice
  • 1.5 oz. vodka or gin
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Salt rim of glass. Mix grapefruit juice and vodka (or gin) in a shaker and then serve over ice. 

10. The Regal Beagle Cocktail


  • .5 oz. Crown Royal® Canadian whisky
  • .5 oz. peach schnapps
  • .5 oz. sweet and sour mix

Mix Canadian whisky, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour over ice in a shaker and then pour into a shot glass.

11. Bichon Frise Cocktail


  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 2 oz. ruby red grapefruit juice
  • 1 lemon wedge

Combine vodka, St-Germain elderflower liqueur,  and ruby red grapefruit juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice then squeeze lemon. Add lemon wedge to the shaker; shake and strain then pour into chilled glass.

12. Bloodhound Cocktail


  • .5 oz. sweet vermouth
  • .5 oz. dry vermouth 
  • 1 oz. gin
  • 1 strawberry (sliced)

Mix sweet vermouth, dry vermouth,  and gin in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain and pour liquids into chilled glass. Top with a strawberry.

13. Salty Chihuahua Cocktail


  • Coarse salt
  • 4 oz. tequila, divided
  • 2 oz. orange-flavored liqueur, divided
  • 3 cups grapefruit juice, divided
  • 4 grapefruit slices, for garnish

Salt rims of glasses. Add tequila and liqueur to each glass over ice then top each glass with grapefruit juice. Stir.

14. Golden Retriever Cocktail

Golden Retriever Cocktail


  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • 4 oz. apple juice

This is probably the easiest drink to make on the list. Mix the vodka and apple juice then serve over ice. Voila!

15. Great Dane Cocktail


  • 1 oz. Aquavit
  • .5 oz. cherry brandy
  • .5 oz. orange bitters
  • 1 dash cranberry juice

Mix Aquavit, cherry brandy, orange bitters, and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker with ice; strain and pour into chilled glass.

16. Greyhound Cocktail


  • 1.5 oz vodka 
  • 3 oz grapefruit juice

Fill a glass with ice and pour in your vodka. Add grapefruit juice. Stir. Then garnish with a lemon or lime wedge.

17. Italian Greyhound


  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • .5 oz. Campari® bitters
  • 5 oz. grapefruit juice

Mix vodka and grapefruit juice; pour in glass. Top with Campari bitters for that extra flavor.

18. Pomeranian Cocktail


  • 2 oz. white rum
  • 1 oz. pomegranate juice
  • .5 oz. triple sec
  • .5 oz. lemon juice
  • .25 oz. grapefruit juice

Shake white rum, pomegranate, triple sec, lemon juice, and grapefruit in a cocktail shaker filled with ice; strain and serve in a chilled glass.

19. Pink Poodle Cocktail


  • 1.5 oz. vanilla vodka
  • Splash of Grenadine syrup
  • 7-Up® soda

Pour the vanilla vodka and a splash of grenadine over ice and then fill the rest of the glass with 7-up. Top with a cherry for the finale.

20. Colorado Pug Cocktail


  • 1 oz. Bailey’s® Irish cream
  • 1 oz. Kahlua® coffee liqueur
  • 4 oz. club soda

Pour in the Kahlua and Bailey’s Irish Cream in a glass over ice. Top with club soda. Stir and serve.

21. Portuguese Water Dog Cocktail

Portuguese Water Dog Cocktail


  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 4 oz. cranberry juice

Mix vodka, sweet vermouth, and cranberry juice and then serve in a glass over ice. 

22. Whippet Cocktail


  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 4 oz. orange juice
  • 1 dash raspberry cordial

Pour the vodka and orange juice over glass with ice and then top with raspberry cordial.

23. Yellow Labrador Cocktail


  • 1.5 oz. gin
  • 4 oz. apple juice

Mix gin and apple juice and then serve over ice. Stir well and serve.

24. Colorado Bulldog


  • 1 .25 oz Vodka (well or call brand)
  • .75 oz Kahlúa
  • 1/4 c whole milk or half-and-half
  • Splash of Coca-Cola

Mix vodka, Kahlua, and milk one at a time in an old-fashioned glass 2/3 full of cubed ice. Top with a splash of coke. Serve this dog cocktail with Stir-Stick.
