Boy, Robert Brantley sure did get more than he anticipated—exactly 13 times more.

The Louisianan pulled over after spotting a lonely kitten by the side of the road last Tuesday while en route to the shooting range, he told NPR. Worried that the kitten would be hit by a car, he coaxes it toward him in a video he posted on Instagram before picking it up.

Then, in what may have been the cutest-ever “ambush,” 12 more kittens descended from the dense grass near the road like Marines in a James Bond film, surprising Brantley.

In the video, he exclaims, “Oh my god, oh my gosh, there’s more. We’ve got a kitten problem.” “Hot diggity dog, I thought I was saving one.”

The 37-year-old claims that he can’t handle them all—a few times, in fact. Naturally, he does successfully fit the wailing infants into his Honda. According to him, the kittens were probably thrown on the side of the road by someone.

All 13 of them were brought home, bathed, and allowed to play in Brantley’s yard. Following the success of Brantley’s initial video, thousands of adoption proposals poured in (with more than 1 million views so far).

The majority of the kittens have been adopted and are on their way to devoted homes. Those adopters are aware of the number of kittens they are receiving, unlike Brantley.
