A few weeks ago, Shaan Renoo uploaded a charmingly endearing video to TikTok that began with a small collage of times he had asked his 60-year-old dad, Raj, if they could acquire a cat. “You’re not having a cat in this house,” he repeatedly informed him, but that would not discourage Shaan from adopting a cat.

The movie then switches to Raj playfully conversing with Angie, a fluffy white British shorthair cat who had taken over his seat on the couch, in a manner that is SpongeBob SquarePants-inspired to remark, “many months later.”

“That’s my chair. I want to sit down there. I want to watch TV,” he said jokingly and then asks nicely if he can take a seat next to her. He is requesting the cat’s permission to use the sofa he paid for. You better believe cats are magical.

The small conversation continues as Raj turns his full attention to the fluffy cat, giving her a tender pet and cooing to the “pussycato” as he counts her paws, adding, “that’s a paw there, 2nd paw there, 3rd paw there, 4th paw there.”

Because she loves and trusts him, Raj continues to be glad that she never bites him. He assures her: “I’ll always love you. I’ll put on a Whitney Houston song for you every day.”

The cat eventually snaps and begins to attack the caressing hand, prompting the man to reply: “Haw, I didn’t do any harm!”Although it is common for cats to scratch and bite each other during play, Angie may be one of the reasons why people loathe cats in the first place although she generally seems to be a loving and understanding cat.

Cat specialist Franny Syufy listed the top five reasons why some people avoid cats at all costs. Some symptoms are physically based, such as those brought on by medical conditions like allergies, which can occasionally be fatal.

Other explanations are more emotionally charged, such as a negative experience or the cat’s seeming lack of interest in you despite your best efforts. When too much caressing overstimulates them, cats “frequently express fairly verbally, and occasionally even violently, with a rapid swat of outstretched claws,” according to Franny.

It could be off-putting to some people because they are animals who prefer their own space and have boundaries and opinions.

This couple seemed to have accepted their differences. They appear to be inseparable, sharing everything—from the sofa to dinner. But why, in the first place, did Raj object to getting a cat so strongly? According to Shaan, “dad is normally a quiet, moody figure around the house,” but he also has another side.

Raj was never a fan of cats; according to his son, “he liked wildcats but not housecats, and would avoid going into people’s houses that had cats to not get scratched.” Eventually, after months of pleading with his mother, she gave in: “We didn’t tell my dad we were getting a cat until it arrived. On the day we got the cat, he walked into the room, and I swear on my mum’s life, he was so starstruck. I could see he wanted to smile but he didn’t break a smile.”

Despite Raj’s efforts to resist it, it appeared that it was love at first sight. Just a week later, Shaan returned from work to find his father playing with Angie and cooing to her like a baby.

She decided to stay with “grandpa” despite Shaan calling for her. Raj took over as Angie’s “cat dad” after Shaan relocated for business, saying: “My parents really didn’t want a cat in the house, but they fell in love with her.”

Since then, the video has received 5.3 million views, with viewers appreciating the amusing and morally upright sequence of events. However, the narrative was far from over because yet another character would soon appear!

Raj objected as one might expect when Shaan asked his dad again whether they could get a second cat. One was obvious enough to him, but Shaan did what he does best and brought back Tommy, a young tabby British shorthair, a few days later.

Raj was unimpressed when he placed the kitten on his father’s lap. But a week later, it looked like the same thing was happening again, and Raj and Tommy had developed a tight friendship despite Raj’s distance from Tommy compared to Angie’s.

The two cats appear to be getting along well, causing trouble and bringing delight to the family and everyone who follows their antics on TikTok and Instagram.

Each animal needs to have a loving home where it can be cared for and protected, whether you prefer cats, dogs, or lizards.

I would like to say a word of caution before you run off to get a pet after your family members have said “no,” as things might not end in the same way. John Bradshaw, an animal expert, explained that having a succession of dogs and cats taught him the “individuality of animals and how, if possible, we should treat and think about them as individuals.”

Make sure you have the resources—financially, emotionally, and physically—to take care of your pets and that you will be able to show them all the love they need.
