Lady loves visiting the seashore. She enjoys digging lots of holes, taking naps under umbrellas, and racing around in the sand.
But what about ocean swimming? She won’t go.
Fortunately, she doesn’t have to feel left out when playing fetch in the ocean because her pal Maui is willing to assist her to retrieve the stick from the waves.
According to Lady’s mother, Erika Ekman, “Maui is like an older brother to Lady, while Lady is like a snarky little sister always grabbing the credit for what he does.” “It’s hilarious and adorable! ”

Nearby dog-friendly beaches in Orange County, California are frequent destinations for Ekman and Lady. Swimming has never been Lady’s thing. The cautious golden took a while to feel secure enough to enter only up to her ankles.
She is not a self-assured dog, but Ekman noted that she has come a long way to even be standing that far out in the ocean. She like the water now, but she needs a lot of encouragement to swim, and she is still afraid of huge waves.
Lady and Maui became friends after meeting at a nearby dog park. Given that Lady is not a strong swimmer and Maui is, they make the ideal team. They socialize and have fun together frequently, sometimes near water.
Maui always brings Lady the pool toys, according to Ekman. Lady enjoys waiting and waiting at the stairs before snatching the toy out of his mouth and bringing it to a safe location.
Ekman is incredibly appreciative to Lady for pushing her to spend time outside and for assisting them both in making new friends like Maui and his family.
Ekman stated, “[Lady] completely changed our way of life and let us to enjoy the stunning natural beauty California has to offer.” “Mentally and physically, we are in much better shape than we were. She is also the reason we have made so many wonderful pals! ”
Every day offers Lady a fresh opportunity to play outside. And if she ever experiences fear? Nearly always, a friend like Maui is available to assist.
