Governor Kay Ivey received a special visitor to the Alabama Governor’s Mansion on Thursday. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC)
Ivey, a 12-week-old Labrador Retriever, is a service dog who could be used as a mobility support dog or a seizure alert dog.
According to Governor Ivey, the work Service Dogs Alabama does to serve our state’s disabled children, adults, and veterans “really changes lives.” Although they are difficult to find and expensive, working dogs of this class have an enormous positive impact on those who receive them. I’m honored to have a life-changing dog share my name and I’m so proud that this charity exists here in Alabama.
Children, adults, and disabled veterans can get medical and psychological assistance dogs from Service Dogs Alabama. The business also offers facility dogs to courts, state agencies, and classrooms where stress is common. These dogs are trained in intervention and behavior disruption.
Although there are challenges, our objective is straightforward: to uphold the highest training standards in order to develop the best service dogs for our beneficiaries throughout Alabama, according to Service Dogs Alabama Executive Director Jeff Parker. Ivey, who is only 12 weeks old, already possesses the qualities necessary for a very effective service dog, and I am confident that she will improve the quality of life for her receiver.
