After several hours, a Pomeranian who had fallen into a canal outside his Florida home was successfully retrieved by his owner, a canine pet investigator, and a handy kayak.
Furthermore, Mario’s discovery and rescue were also documented on camera.
In a video that was uploaded to Jamie Katz’s TikTok account, she can be seen paddling down the canal in Fort Lauderdale with Mario’s owner. Lauderdale. The 96-second clip gets off to a grim start with the dog’s owner saying she’s on the lookout for a body. Eight hours before, Mario had slipped and landed in the canal behind his house.
“We don’t want [that], obviously, but, no, you need to have an answer,” Katz tells her.
When Mario’s owner is talking about how her husband had earlier searched for the dog, the pair is ready to turn away from a resting white-and-blue boat when Katz detects a sound. At the 27-second point, you can also hear some soft whimpering.
When Katz hears the sobbing again, she says, “What’s that? What was that? Was that you?” before lowering herself into the water.

She has located Mario. The GoPro video makes it difficult to see, but the orange Pom was in some way still alive under or inside the back of the blue and white boat. As his owner muttered “no way” and “you’re kidding,” Katz was able to lure him out.
His owner had checked that area for Mario twice, she told Katz in the video.
She tells Katz, “You heard that. I never would’ve heard that.” You were here for that reason, that’s why you were here.
More than 764,900 people have watched the TiKTok of the unexpected rescue, which is far from enough to recognize Katz’s valor.
