Known for its magnificent estate, racetrack, and Festival Of Speed, gorgeous Goodwood is now the site of a brand-new occasion: the first-ever celebration of all things canine.

This weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, Goodwoof will take place, allowing an unlimited number of visiting canines and about 6,000 people per day access to the 12,000-acre estate.

There will be expert demonstrations, agility challenges, chillout zones, and even a Barkitecture competition where top architects and designers compete to develop the ideal workspace and home for our canine friends. Kevin McCloud will judge the concepts.

I think it’s safe to say that dogs have dominated Goodwood over the years. The most opulent kennels in the world, built by the third Duke of Richmond in 1787 for his cherished dogs, were so large that heating was not even placed in the buildings until a century later.

The renowned kennels, currently a private members’ clubhouse, will provide the backdrop for the stunning Goodwoof. Having dogs allowed is simply normal.

In the opulent reception of the Goodwood Hotel, a dog-friendly, opulent hotel on the estate that invites canines into all its restaurants and bars, Betty the schnauzer and Truckle the golden labrador pose for a photo with their two young Yorkshire terrier visitors.

Each dog was given a dog bed and a dog dish upon arrival to guarantee the most pleasant stay possible.

Pictures of many dogs owned by the Duke of Richmond and his family over the years are displayed on the wall behind the canines that are seated.

In addition to recognizing the historical significance of dogs, Goodwoof also emphasizes how vital they are to our current well-being.

Axel, the German pointer sets the pace during a 1.8-kilometer CaniCross event in which dog owners compete with their canines.

Every dog can participate in the Have-A-Go area, sponsored by Animal Friends, which includes a 50-meter dash for the fastest dog. Every year, Goodwoof will highlight remarkable breeds and recognize canine pioneers in history.

Owners are encouraged to enter their friends in the biggest breed gathering of its sort this year, which is for spaniels.

Pup, pup, and away
