According to Kennel Club statistics, the number of people looking for puppies has increased by around 8% since the global pandemic starts.

But given the 221 distinct pedigree dog breeds available, there is a lot to consider before deciding on the newest four-legged member of your family, whether you want a big dog, a family-friendly dog, or a crossbreed.

The personalities of different dog breeds can also vary greatly, making some of them ideal for anyone looking for a puppy with a cheerful nature.

According to the American Kennel Club, these are the top 10 happiest dog breeds.

1. Labrador Retriever

The Labrador Retriever is the most well-liked and content dog in the UK. Either with food, walks, or pats are all met with euphoric satisfaction since they are naturally predisposed to be happy pups.

2. Bichon Frise

It may make sense that the Bichon Frise is well known for its upbeat personality given that French nobility historically used to spoil them. They tend to make their human relatives happy with their big smiles and fluffy furs.

3. Golden Retriever

They might not be as content as their Labrador Retriever counterparts, but the Golden Retrievers are not far behind.  As long as you feed them, which is essential, they will adore you and cherish life.

4. Maltese

The Maltese is a mischievous and happy dog that loves to be spoilt and can get into some awkward situations because of a level of bravery that belies its diminutive size. They always respond with humor, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in, and they want you to do the same.

5. Beagle

Beagles are described by the American Kennel Club as “happy-go-lucky, joyful, and friendly” dogs, and their naturally happy expressions reflect this. Like other dogs, Beagles will wag their tail when they are delighted, but when they are very joyful, they will wriggle their entire body.

6. Bedlington Terrier

The Bedlington Terrier was initially bred to kill rats and is arguably the happiest of all dog breeds, making their happy smiles popular. They now enjoy playing and giving each other long hugs.

7. Border Collie

The Border Collie is a breed that is inherently quite joyful, but when they are exercising outside, they are in their canine paradise. A happy Border Collie running over fields is the picture of a dog in its element.

8. King Charles Spaniel

King Charles Spaniel, also known as the English Toy Spaniel in the United States, needs little to be content. They only need a few laps around the garden and a cozy place to take a nap to be completely satisfied.

9. Brussels Griffon

The Brussels Griffon is one of the happiest dog breeds and a playful breed by nature. Additionally, their cheeky behavior is sure to make you smile.

10. Irish Setter

Irish Setters never grow tired of playing with their families, as evidenced by their perpetually wagging tails, making them the happiest dogs when exercising. When used to aid in finding wildlife, their striking red color made them simple for hunters to spot.
