Hugo the husky undoubtedly believed at the age of ten that he would continue to live out his golden years in a largely unchanged and uninhibited manner.

Ice then entered the picture.

“We never really planned on getting a second dog,” Ice and Hugo’s mom, Sammy Stimpson told The Dodo. “But … they just hit it off. He usually takes a while to accept other dogs, but he accepted Ice right away. That’s how we knew it was meant to be.”

Hugo was excitedly peering over the front gate when they first met, and Ice was pulling on her leash to get to Hugo quicker. It appeared as though they had been friends their entire lives.

That meeting can be seen here:

In their English town of Norfolk, Stimpson serves as the postmistress. She has the opportunity to interact with many residents along her route, including one who owns six dogs. Stimpson frequently visited the woman’s home even though she had nothing to deliver but additional love and attention for the dogs.

Stimpson knew she had to accept one of the woman’s pets when the disease forced the woman to give up her other canines. According to Stimpson, “that is how our little girl, Ice, entered the picture.”

Ice and Hugo couldn’t be more unlike. Ice like to spend every moment on someone’s lap, whereas Hugo is more self-reliant. They quickly became the best of friends because they are both still-at-heart puppies. They enjoy sharing blueberries while out running together, according to Stimpson.

Their friendship is simply becoming stronger every day, according to Stimpson. Despite the fact that Hugo and Ice only recently become friends, they demonstrate that it is never too late to find your best friend.
