A woman in Houston, Texas, recently came across something tragic while traveling home from work. Between trash bins and worn-out mattresses, two stray dogs had the appearance of settling down.

The Good Samaritan immediately contacted a nearby rescue organization for assistance, but when they got there, they discovered more canines than they had anticipated.

According to Sylvia Lopez of Houston Dog Outreach Guardians, “We went the next day to assess and set traps as they did not trust us. We quickly managed to trap the momma dog, and we also trapped a young female dog that we believe was her daughter from her previous litter.”

But Lopez quickly discovered that Mom and baby were not the only puppies in need upon closer scrutiny. A whole family was waiting for assistance: the mother, father, three daughters, and grandmother.

“We managed to chase behind Grandma, then she got tired of running and gave up,” Lopez said. “She didn’t put up a fight [because] she was exhausted.”

The rescue team tried throughout the day to capture half of the dog family before setting traps for the evening. By Monday morning, everything was going well.

“I went to check the traps at 5 a.m. and, thankfully, Daddy and puppy were trapped safely,” Lopez added.

Lopez left one trap behind when rescuing the rest of the family since there was still one dog, the youngest daughter, that needed to be rescued.

“I left the area to reunite the puppy with her momma and daddy with the rest of the family,” Lopez stated. “Later that same day, we went back to check the trap and finally trapped the last dog, the young daughter. We reunited the whole family at our holding facility.”

Their genuine personalities emerged once everyone had a cozy place to sleep and a hearty meal to eat.

According to Lopez, “2-year-old Momma — now named Naomi — was very sweet and trusting. 8-month-old puppy daughters were timid and scared, but now they’re warming up to us. They seem to be very sweet girls. The 2-month-old baby puppy — named Abigail — was timid and scared but now is warming up to us and very playful.”

Daddy dog, now known as Thomas, still acts more bravely and bravely when his dog family is around. He is also 2 years old, whereas Grandma, who is 10, adores everyone and enjoys taking long walks.

The rest of the family has gone to foster families while they wait to find their future homes, except for the two youngest girls, Shannon and Christel, who will temporarily stay at a rescue with Grandma.

This loving family persevered despite everything they had to endure. Now that is love.
