One evening as Jen Edmondson was leaving her home, she noticed something peeping out from the bushes below her mailbox.

Edmondson looked up and saw a pair of kind, ebony eyes staring up at her. A large, white dog needed assistance after being abandoned. Edmondson understood what she needed to do right away.

My heart took over when I saw how much he needed help, Edmondson said to The Dodo.

She recorded the stray dog and uploaded it to a neighborhood Facebook page to see if anyone else had lost their pet. After that, she hurried home to provide the dog with some food and water as she awaited comments on her article.

As it turned out, everyone in town had seen the dog, but nobody knew where he resided. He didn’t seem to have a home at all.

A nearby veterinarian advised Edmondson to adopt the puppy from a rescue organization like Columbus Rescue Dogs.

Edmondson wasn’t sure if she had the time or resources to care for another pet because she already had a senior dog at home. But she took a chance, and soon the rescued dog was curled up on the cool garage floor, delighted to have received the attention and love he so desperately needed.

Because a lovely waxing gibbous moon was visible in the sky the night he was found, Edmondson gave her new foster child the name Gibbous. Like the waxing and fading of the moon, gibbous has come to symbolize Edmondson’s life as a trustworthy, consoling constant.

He is the most compassionate, kind, and loving dog I believe I have ever encountered, according to Edmondson. He loves to chase the ATV and, of course, adores treats.

Edmondson still isn’t sure if she’ll formally adopt Gibbous, but she’s enjoying every second of discovering everything there is to know about him.

He makes his own decisions about whether or not to comply with your requests, according to Edmondson. You can tell he’s a gentle giant by looking into his wide, expressive brown eyes that he is just an utter sweetie.

Gibbous is also enjoying every second because he has a roof over his head and lots of Edmondson’s love and devotion.
