Pit Bull Dumped At Shelter Only Has Her Favorite Toy To Hold Onto
This beautiful pup, named Layla, once lived with a family she cared for deeply. One day, that family decided it no longer wanted Layla so they dropped her off at a high kill shelter. Each day Layla remained in a cage, unadopted, was one day closer to euthanasia.
The lovable one-year-old dog had a hard time adjusting to shelter life and became very depressed. She constantly clung to the last piece of her former life, a stuffed toy that reminded her of what life should be like, living at home with a family.
“She carries that stuffy down the street and through the yard — never letting go,” Julie Carner, a dog rescuer, wrote on Facebook. “Today, that stuffy is all she has left.”
Layla was put on the euthanasia list several times. Her fate hung in the balance. Dog lovers, following her story on Facebook, made monetary donations so Rescue Dogs Rock NYC could go save her.
Finally, the rescue group had enough money to save her! Layla was taken from the shelter, with her plushy, and placed with a wonderful foster mom. She had this to say about Layla:
“Layla is such a silly stunning beautiful girl, nothing petite about this lady, full of energy, but can also relax and enjoy her human time… although she is restricted to the leash around the house because she had ACL surgery, she is a very smart, and curious girl… she is crate trained, and I would say for the most part house broken, definitely needs a little structure, and human patience, and a routine she would be an amazing companion to a family.”
Layla deserves a loving family who will NEVER give up on her. Please consider adopting Layla. Life is so much fuller with tail wags and wet kisses. If you’re interested in giving Layla a forever home, click here! Or go to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC
