When a pet is abandoned, she has no idea how to care for herself. For rescuers, it’s a cruel business. They strive to save as many animals in need as possible, but it often feels like a losing battle. The dog in this story was merely a puppy when she was left behind. People watched in horror as her owner left her on the street as if she meant nothing at all.
The kind strangers reached out to the rescuers, who arrived immediately. The poor pup was filled with fear and hunger as she lay beneath a metal cart. It was a safe space for her to remain concealed and sleep as much as she could.
One of the rescuers, named Jen, tried to capture the puppy, but she ran away from her. But this didn’t deter her in the least. She followed close behind with a shopping bag in hand.
The puppy fearfully barked and growled when Jen cornered her. Jen breathed easier once she scooped the puppy and placed her into the bag. As the video below states, “Even though she didn’t know it yet, her life was about to change for the better.”
Jen brought the pup home and named her Pepe. Amazingly, the dog seemed to understand she was finally safe. She calmed down almost immediately! Jen reached out to touch Pep,e and to her surprise, she welcomed a gentle pet. She even leaned into Jen’s hand as if it were the first time she felt loved… and it probably was!
Jen became her foster mom, working around the clock to transform Pepe’s body and mind into a healthy, vibrant pup. Soon, news came that a loving couple wanted to adopt Pepe. Jen was over the moon!
Pepe is now living her best life, knowing she will never be left behind again. She spends her days surrounded by doggy siblings and loving parents. She loves to play on the beach and snuggle in her warm bed.
