This adorable puppy, Brooke, was able to enjoy her family’s love and devotion for more than ten years. But in her dying moments, Brooke also experienced the love of a large group of people.

This Monday, Brooke’s owner, Reddit user Canadian-built, posted a sad statement and a sincere plea to his local Calgary community. Having just discovered that Brooke was dying, he wanted her to enjoy one of her favorite pastimes—rolling in the snow—for the very last time.

There wasn’t any snow in the area because it was summer. Canadian-built, therefore, believed a nearby indoor ice rink would be able to assist.

Numerous commentators sent well wishes and ideas on where Brooke’s family should travel to acquire snow (or, more precisely, ice shaved from an ice rink’s surface) in response to the touching post. The employees at Bowness Sportsplex, a locally owned ice rink, were among those who witnessed it.

When they learned of Brooke’s predicament, they acted quickly:

In a post-update, Canadian-built stated, “[They] right away started dumping snow outdoors for us.”

All of it was for Brooke. She was allowed to experience the coolness of snow against her fur, face, and paws once again because the neighborhood was so courteous to her family as they drove her to the location.

This was to be one of her last acts, which was bittersweet:

The front yard lawn, which was pleasant and shaded and where she enjoyed hanging out so much, was where my girlfriend pulled her out of the truck after we returned from lying in the snow. She lay there for a few hours as we said our goodbyes and she kissed us before she left, and I sobbed uncontrollably.

Good dogs like Brooke have a unique knack for making everyone they know, including those they haven’t yet met, happy. In a manner, society was merely following her example by giving her snow during the winter.

Her relatives will undoubtedly recall it forever.

Her owner wrote, “Rest well, Brooke.” We won’t forget you.
