Rescue dogs throughout the UK are sending letters to Santa Paws’ with the aid of local shelters in the hopes of finding a loving forever home in time for Christmas.

Caregivers from the Dogs Trust, Blue Cross, and the RSPCA wrote messages to ‘Santa Paws’ on behalf of the puppies staying at their facilities in an attempt to persuade social media users to rescue the dogs.

FEMAIL has presented a selection of the most moving examples by sharing cute photographs of the animals with their letters online.

They include Mistletoe, a two-year-old Lurcher from west London who has been looking for a permanent home since she was rescued by the Dog’s Trust in December 2020.

Meanwhile, at Salisbury’s Dog Trust Centre, six-year-old Pomeranian Max is looking for an owner who can match his energetic personality while also taking the time to get to know him and create trust.

‘All of our dogs deserve to enjoy great lives at the heart of loving homes,’ said Adam Clowes, Operations Director at Dogs Trust. ‘We have our fingers and paws crossed that every single dog we are looking after will find their very own special someone soon.

‘Our tagline, “A Dog is for Life, Not Just for Christmas,” is as pertinent as ever, and with demand for dogs still at an all-time high, we would really advise anyone considering about obtaining a dog to take their time and do their research.

‘This way, people can ensure that they are ready to welcome a four-legged bundle of energy into their lives and that they are as confident as possible that they can provide their puppy with all it requires for the rest of its life.’ If you’ve done your research and there’s still a dog-shaped hole in your life, now might be the time.’
