Treatment options for dog arthritis include medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which help reduce pain and inflammation; glucosamine supplements which can help rebuild cartilage; physical therapy which can help improve mobility; and changes in diet which can help reduce inflammation. In some cases surgery may also be recommended if other treatments are not effective.
It is also important to make sure your pet gets plenty of exercise in order to keep their joints healthy and prevent further damage from occurring. Low impact activities such as swimming are ideal for dogs with arthritis since they provide exercise without putting too much strain on their joints. Additionally providing soft bedding for your pet can help make them more comfortable while they rest and sleep throughout the day.
