Twinkle was taken in by True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission after being discovered wandering the streets of Miami alone in June. She was starving and her teeth were falling out, but she soon got all the love and care she needed and deserved.

According to Lisa Letson, president and founder of True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission, “she spent a couple of weeks recovering at the vet’s office from surgery and began to put on weight. She gained weight, and what a doll she became! She was adopted [at] the beginning of September to a nice family, and they seemed amazing.”

Around Christmas, Twinkle’s new owners sent an email to the rescue stating that they wanted to return her after owning her for four months.

Twinkle reportedly screamed nonstop through the night because she desired to share a bed with her new parents. They decided Twinkle wasn’t a good fit and brought her back to the rescue because the family also had other older Chihuahuas and wouldn’t allow any of them to sleep in the bed with them.

Madison Mulvihill, the social media coordinator at True and Faithful Pet Rescue, told that “Twinkle was beyond devastated and confused. I remember walking [into] the main dog room to see she was sitting in the corner on a dog bed, closed off and shaking with fear. She looked at you with such confusion on her face and pain in her heart. The owners handed her over the fence during the time of her return. She continued to look back at that fence, and it’s so hard because we can’t explain why someone would do this to her.”

Twinkle’s only desire was to spend the entire night cuddling with her family, and it crushed her heart that they couldn’t. Everyone involved in the rescue was heartbroken for her. They had all adored her since the beginning and couldn’t fathom why anyone would reject such a precious, innocent spirit.

“Twinkle is not only just adorable, but she has the biggest personality despite being only 3 and a half pounds,” according to Mulvihill. “She loves attention and is not afraid to approach you when she wants to be loved. She is so joyful and has the cutest little hops when she treads through the grass at the ranch. She is a total snuggle bug, leash trained, and gets along with other dogs. She will paw at your hand when she wants to be scratched.”

Twinkle’s pals tweeted about her on TikTok after she returned to the rescue in the hopes that someone might relate to her journey, and the internet instantly fell in love with her. As adoption requests poured in for Twinkle fast via the rescue’s email, she is finally prepared to leave for her new forever home.

Mulvihill noted that “Her new family has six other dogs and a massive king bed with plenty of room for her to sleep in with her new family at night. This senior will be living out the rest of [her] life knowing what true love [is].”

Twinkle is just looking for as much love and adoration as she can get, and she has finally found a family that would accept her for who she is.
