Valarie Hinther and her husband spotted a black dog on the side of the road when they were driving home to Yukon, Oklahoma. Valarie says “My husband noticed that there was a black dog on the side of the road and lifted her head up and she made eye contact,” Hinther said. “We weren’t sure if we were going to stop but after a few miles, I couldn’t stop thinking her.”

The dog had not only been thrown off the overpass, but when the Hinther’s rescued her they also realized she had been shot in the chest

The family has decided to keep the lucky pooch and they named her Miracle.

“We have looked on lost and found animal Facebook sites and haven’t seen anything,” Hinther said. “She has made her forever home with us.”

@Cindyhagar comments, “How sad but a very happy ending. She found her someone that won’t hurt her any longer.” @PaulaBillings replies, “Some people can be so cruel and then others have such compassion..” A very sweet comment comes from @Lindyworley who types, “I had a cat named miracle and we saved him as a kitten, he had fishing line wrapped around his leg, which had to be amputated, and he was so sick from it we were told he wouldn’t survive. I love that this pup’s story is almost similar to my cats.  Maybe it’s him reincarnated!”

I think we can all agree with @JanetHead who says, “Thank you for taking such good care and loving her.” Amen to that.
