Before you know it, Christmas will be here! It is time to read everything there is to read about Christmas! Most of the books feature strong and courageous fur babies since I enjoy Christmas stories with animal protagonists. Reading these with your buddies will be enjoyable.

The Dog Who Thought He Was Santa by Bill Walace

Don Franklin is enthusiastic! Well, as excited as any 11-year-old boy who is concerned can be. Christmas is almost approaching, but his mining village is having a problem. Christmas will they be able to observe? Susan, Don’s younger sister, concurs. She is certain that Santa will deliver everything she desires. She won’t reveal what it is to anyone, not in any form, not in any way.

Don’s dog, Frank, is a loyal bloodhound who works to make his owners happy, safe, and worry-free. What a wonderful dog. Frank is a miracle worker!

The boy and the dog tell the story in this book. It is AMAZING!

Frank, I adore the bloodhound! I cannot tell you much more because it will spoil all the surprises, fun, adventure, and awww that he has in store for you. After all, he is so insightful and humorous, “People spend so much of their days worrying, they don’t hardly have time to bury a bone or scratch a flee.”

The Pug Who Wanted to be a Reindeer by Bella Swift

A pretty little pug with a cinnamon roll tail can only cause so much trouble, right? Well, a lot, if you are Peggy, the cute pug. People in Peggy’s human family have been experiencing a string of terrible luck. Their holiday cheer left the building. Peggy decided that she knows just what to do—change into a reindeer! LOL! Peggy tries eating carrots to make herself become an antler. At home, she creates more chaos and worry. She believes that visiting Santa Claus at the North Pole is the only way to have the problem fixed. Oh Peggy, you brave little thing. Read about all of her exploits. Peggy comes to the aid!

Christmas at Stony Creek by Stephanie Greene

This is the tale of a courageous little mouse by the name of Pipsqueak or Pip. I am going to give her the name of my new pet mouse. I was deeply touched. Papa Pip has been away in search of food for eight exhausting days. It is already Christmas and it was only supposed to last three days. Of course, Pip is going somewhere her mother has banned. Land’s End is the residence located on a clifftop with a view of a forest. There is a ton of food there, but the area is unsafe. There were cats, owls that could swoop down on her, and traps inside the house. Pip travels to see her mother, brothers, sisters, and father, and to celebrate Christmas. Pip is a really brave little boy.

The Christmas Doll by Elvira Woodruff

Although it is not a Christmas book for pets, this is one of my favorites. Glory Wolcott, 6, and Lucy Wolcott, 10, are orphans residing in a public workhouse in Grimstone Union. Grimstone is exactly as awful as it sounds and has nothing positive to offer. They make blankets and sacks from sunrise to sunset. Poor girls. Just as a terrible, deadly fever spreads throughout Grimstone, they can flee.

The little girls wander London’s streets as they learn how to survive. They look through the murky river mud for items to sell and locate a worn-out, old doll. Glory immediately adored her and gave her the name Morning Glory. They embark on several adventures with this tiny doll, changing the course of their lives. This is an actual tale of Christmas enthusiasm.

A Christmas Treasury, Twelve Unforgettable Holiday Stories

I enjoy reading short stories and book excerpts. This book includes both Christmas-themed short stories and longer works, such as the Christmas scene from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. For all you young theater enthusiasts, it also includes Barbara Robinson’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which is fantastic. You will discover that theater has the power to soften the heart of a bully or two. Of course, there are tales of furry children. Cleveland Amory’s The Cat Who Came for Christmas is a twisty tale about a rescued cat. Adventure abounds in Jean Craighead George’s book My Side of the Mountain.
