Before finding a spot to rest safely, Neville spent weeks wandering the streets of San Bernardino, California, in the stifling summer heat. The 2-year-old shepherd mix’s past was unknown, and in addition to being completely alone, she was also quite overweight.
Fortunately, a kind stranger found the stray, fed, and watered her before taking her to the closest shelter. Staff members instantly shared information about the good girl—whom they initially mistook for a boy—on Facebook. Neville is “a complete love bug.”
“He has a thyroid condition. This poor sweetheart needs our help,” the message read. “[She’s a] real love bug, everyone is in love.”
Neville’s post was successful, and she moved into her new house in late July, but she still needs a health and weight loss strategy.
Niki, Neville’s mother, told The Dodo, “We took her to the vet the day after we got her home and we did tests.” Although her thyroid is low, hypothyroidism has not yet been diagnosed in her.
In order for Neville to exercise without harming her joints, Niki is now seeking for a pool. Fortunately, her most recent appointment brought excellent news.
She weighed 112 pounds today as opposed to 130 pounds at the shelter, according to Niki. In the parking lot, I sobbed.
Niki gives Neville the credit for all the good that has resulted from saving her even though he provided her a decent home where she is loved and cared for.
Niki claimed, “She’s given me a newfound feeling of purpose.” She recently gave me fresh motivation to keep working with animals, which I had been struggling with.
