The Portuguese Podengo is a breed of moderation, a rustic dog that always looks natural. Historically, they were used as hunting dogs and are known for their intelligence and agility. They are classified as hounds and have an independent nature, but are still very loving with their families.

The Portuguese Podengo Pequeno is the smallest of the three size classes of this breed and is a fast learner motivated by both fun and food. They have pointed ears and a slim build, making them perfect for chasing after rabbits or other small game. They are alert and playful, so they make great watchdogs too!

The Portuguese Podengo Medio is slightly larger than the Pequeno but still has all the same qualities that make them great hunting companions. They are loyal to their owners yet independent enough to work on their own when needed. Their strong sense of smell makes them ideal for tracking prey in dense terrain or wooded areas.

The largest size class of Portuguese Podengos is the Grande, which stands at least 18 inches tall at the shoulder. This size class was originally bred to hunt wild boar, so they have more strength and endurance than the smaller sizes. They also have an excellent sense of hearing which helps them detect prey from far away distances.

No matter what size you choose, all Portuguese Podengos make wonderful family pets as well as reliable hunting companions! If you’re looking for an intelligent, loyal dog with lots of energy then this breed might be perfect for you!
