Stella did not have a home about two years ago. She slept on anything she could find, including trash bags. Only if someone would give the stray a chance, she had so much love to share.

The 1-year-old’s luck then changed, as seen by her remarkable turnaround.

When Heather Martin discovered about Stella, she knew they had to meet. Heather Martin was ready to expand her family of furry friends.

Martin said, “A coworker shared with me about Pooches Out of Puerto Rico, so my husband and I looked into them. We fell in love [with Stella] instantly.”

Martin was eager for Stella to join her family straight away but she needed veterinary attention first. Martin described Stella as a “loving, sweet, playful, curious super chewer, who loves to be in the sun”.

“Stella was left at a dump and somehow survived sleeping on garbage bags and eating whatever she could find,” according to Martin. “She had extreme mange, roundworms, hookworms, and scabies. She only weighed 9 pounds when they rescued her.”

Stella was all clear to move into her new home after medical treatment. The once-homeless dog completely altered in look thanks to Martin’s devotion.

A dog named Lulu was adopted from the rescue from the encounter so that Stella might have a sibling to grow up with. Additionally, Stella’s “cuddle bug” nature gives Martin new hope.

“Stella has been a ray of sunshine,” Martin said. “[She] knows when we need love and will cuddle us. She wants nothing but love and truly is perfect.”
