The Porcelaine Dog is a medium-sized French scent hound that has been around for centuries. It is thought to be one of the oldest breeds in existence, and its history can be traced back to 1844 when it was first referred to as “Briquets Francs Comtois”. The breed is known for its intelligence, loyalty, and strong prey drive, making them ideal hunting dogs.

The Porcelaine Dog originated in France and was used primarily as a hunting dog. They were bred to flush out and hunt hare, deer, and wild boar with their keen sense of smell. They were also used by farmers to guard their livestock from predators such as wolves and foxes. Over time, the breed became popular among French nobility who appreciated the Porcelaine’s intelligence and loyalty.

In the late 19th century, the Porcelaine Dog began to gain popularity in other countries such as England and Germany. In England, they were mainly used for fox hunting while in Germany they were used for tracking wounded game animals. By the early 20th century, the breed had become well established throughout Europe and was recognized by several kennel clubs including The American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1909.

Today, the Porcelaine Dog is still an excellent working dog but has also become a popular companion animal due to its friendly nature and affectionate personality. They are highly intelligent which makes them easy to train but they can also be stubborn at times which requires patience from their owners. The Porcelaine Dog is an active breed that needs plenty of exercise on a daily basis or else they may become bored or destructive.

The Porcelaine Dog has a short coat that comes in various colors such as black & tan, liver & tan, red & white or tricolor (black/tan/white). They have long ears that hang down close to their cheeks and a tail that curves slightly over their back when they are alert or excited. The average height of a Porcelaine Dog is between 18-24 inches (46-61 cm) tall at the shoulder with males being slightly larger than females on average.

Overall, the Porcelaine Dog is an intelligent and loyal breed that makes an excellent companion animal or working dog depending on its owner’s needs and lifestyle. With proper training and socialization from an early age they can make wonderful additions to any family looking for a loving pet or active working partner!
