Dogs Bob and Chiara are excellent examples of how a pet’s loyalty knows no bounds. They entered the ambulance on November 1st, where their owner was being transported due to seizures. Later, he was taken to a hospital with his two dogs, who wouldn’t leave the car.

Professionals from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) in Bauru, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, saved the recycling collector José Antônio Pereira, 47. When Josy Plana, the ambulance driver, and Maria de Lourdes Pereira, the nursing assistant, arrived on the scene, they saw him lying on the ground.

The dogs did not consider leaving their owner when he was taken to the ambulance after having seizures; instead, they leaped into the car.

The man’s dogs were defending him, so they were unable to approach him. In order to treat José, the ambulance staff had to first quiet the dogs. The dogs remained by their owner the entire time to ensure his safety.

The dogs followed José into the ambulance when he had to be taken to the hospital and wouldn’t let him leave their sight. The ambulance staff had no choice but to bring the animals because they were concerned they would chase after the vehicle and suffer injuries.

The dogs waited outside the emergency room entrance for their owner because they were not allowed into the hospital. José had to remain under monitoring all night. He was released the following day. José was able to reunite with his devoted pals.

Josy said: “We work on the brink of life and death, we have to be technicians, but we cannot stop being human.”
