“Wildly raised, set free, and keeps coming back to me! “This is how Patty Robinson, a Boston, Massachusetts, resident, introduces the squirrel she found in her garden and gave the name Bunk to her Instagram followers.

Patty first became acquainted with the animal while gazing out her kitchen window, which led to their friendship. The mother went outside to inspect out of curiosity and found the squirrel was still a baby! For around 45 minutes, Patty searched the land for her mother or siblings, but she was unsuccessful.

It was at that point that she decided to assist and raise this wonderful creature in the hopes of eventually setting him free. Bunk appears to be enjoying his time with his lovely savior and does not appear to be eager to depart any time soon.

Patty mentioned to Bored Panda that she observed Bunk in her yard. Patty knew the squirrel was a baby when the woman walked outside to investigate and discovered his eyes were still closed.

“The first time I took him up, he melted in my palms. You just bunked right in, I murmured, placing him in my pocket. I got his name from there. Well, I guess I’m going to have to call you Bunk, I said. How difficult might raising a squirrel be, I wondered? I did use the internet, and part of what I found there was real and some of it wasn’t. ”

Patty told us that she has always been kind to people in general. “I was employed as a social worker and foster parent. A grackle blackbird that I reared was set free. Finally, the grackle I named “hello baby” truly did save me! ”

“I did release Bunk; he had been missing for five days! He came back in terror, growling. He resisted leaving after three more attempts from me!

Squirrels are not suitable as pets. They need their own room, quite dirty, pricey, and can bite. I would not give up on him because he would not leave. ”

“I constructed ramps for Bunk and placed the tubes so he could safely run around the room after hurting his paw. As an artist, it was a delight for me to construct for him a treehouse and a tree sculpture out of his favorite types of wood.

“I built him a nest, I constructed him nesting boxes! He would employ some of these items and reject others.

Bunk’s bedroom is not mine; rather, it is his! I am unable to alter anything. If I circle his room, he follows and keeps an eye on me to ensure that I’m not making any alterations. He’ll quickly figure out that I put something little in his room without telling him about it. I did create a cage for him. That cage’s door never locks. The purpose of squirrels is not to live in cages! ”

Patty said that she had been misinformed about squirrels her entire childhood. More than simply acorns are consumed by squirrels. They consume a lot of fruits and vegetables. Squirrels cannot contract rabies and do not carry the disease. People are less social than squirrels. They are incredible builders and annually plant thousands of trees. They place a strong emphasis on family.

Being loved by a squirrel is a blessing, and loving a squirrel is great! He or I, or maybe both of us, help each other more each day! He really does improve me as a person. He showed me how to be more in tune with the natural world. Even if we don’t exchange words, we are able to comprehend one another. Squirrels and humans are far more closely related than most people realize! ”
