Other than knowing that the dog was a puppy mill rescue, Kaitlin Devoto knew little about the dog she had volunteered to foster.

The dog’s foster mother, Kaitlin Devoto, told The Dodo, “I didn’t know a gender or age.” “The first time we knew what she looked like was when she arrived in Cincinnati when I picked her up.”

Devoto came face to face with a female standard red poodle at the pickup center.

The experienced foster mother observed that the dog was producing a small amount of milk, but she assumed it was because of a recent litter.

It’s not unusual to receive a puppy mill Momma who is still lactating, according to Devoto. “Moms are ‘no longer useful’ when their puppies are weaned.”

Devoto intended to treat the dog’s overweight condition and excessive skinniness with wholesome meals and loads of affection. The terrified but relieved dog was taken home in her arms by the woman.

Four days later, Devoto found an unexpected surprise in her new foster dog’s bed: a little poodle puppy.

“Overnight, she delivered the puppy! Devoto remarked.

She was even more shocked to discover that there had just been one puppy when she promptly checked the poodle’s belly for more, “It  was a singleton baby!” Devoto remarked.

Devoto acted quickly to provide comfort for the mother and child. She provided the two poodles with a peaceful spot to rest and nurse by lining an enclosed kennel with cozy blankets.

She remarked that he was a boy and resembled a chicken nugget as she examined the puppy to ensure his wellbeing.

Devoto recalled, “He was very quickly named Chicky Nug,”  “But I was stumped on a name for Momma that fit the same theme.”

Devoto named her mother Mickey D after the fast food restaurant business McDonald’s with the assistance of her friends. They chose Mickey for the abbreviation.

Mickey seems to suit her, according to Devoto. “Mickey and Chicky are also a cute name combination! ”

Both Mickey and Chicky’s personalities have developed since the puppy’s birth. Chicky is currently a 5-week-old puppy with a spunky, playful personality.

“He loves to run around and do zoomies,” according to Devoto. Additionally, he enjoys biting toys and toes.

Mickey also enjoys spending time with her family and playing with her toys. Devoto claims that the anxious dog gains self-assurance every single day.

Although both canines are still in Devoto’s care, their forever homes will soon be found. Mickey will be up for adoption through Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue starting in the next month, while Chicky will meet his new family after he becomes 8 weeks old.

Devoto will miss Mickey and Chicky, but she will always treasure the times she spent with the mother-and-son team. Even though their time together was brief, Devoto and her foster puppies shared love that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
