A dog was chained to the back of a vehicle that nearly drove through a car wash, according to 10 News in Roanoke, Virginia.

The truck was captured on surveillance video entering the Lightning McClean Car Wash on Saturday by the news organization. Employees observed the dog chained in the rear as the car moved forward and informed the driver. A man wearing a shirt from the Bedford Fire Department then got out of the car and untied the dog.

The man allegedly remarked, “he wanted to get his dog washed, too,” and the car wash manager claimed that he appeared “agitated.”

The individual was described as a “junior member” of the volunteer department by the Bedford fire chief. He claims that after being made aware of the incident, the authorities reportedly ordered an investigation. No evidence of maltreatment was discovered after they checked the dog.

Coincidentally, on September 1st, the passenger is quitting the fire department. Watch what happened below:

Dogs adore the open road’s breeze, as is well known. But experts concur that taking your dog in an open truck bed is a bad idea.

According to a 2007 survey by the American Veterinary Medical Association, a group of Massachusetts veterinarians had treated nearly 600 injuries caused by dogs falling out of truck beds. Furthermore, according to the American Humane Society, such mishaps result in 100,000 dog deaths and many more injuries per year.

As a result, rules that prohibit putting dogs in truck beds are being enforced in numerous states. In addition, doing so is risky and puts your pet in danger.

If you must transport your dog in the back of a truck, only do it in a properly locked and secured crate. Check out these suggestions for more details on canine road trips.
