Due to the bond between the dog and its owner, a dog in Brazil has gained the hearts of thousands of people online, particularly on TikTok. Lola, a loving mutt who lives with José Paulo da Silva in the nation’s capital of São Paulo, seems to like spending time with him a lot. This is especially true of their bedtime routine.
But Lola’s life was not always that blissful. Previously, firefighters in the area of a fireman’s school came to rescue Lola and her sister who was trapped in the underbrush. Her sister was soon adopted and Lola was placed in the care of a student who was fostering her temporarily at the school.
Lola was at risk of being left alone when the pandemic forced the closure of the school. The school’s headmaster asked the pupils whether anyone would be interested in adopting her to prevent leaving her behind. José’s stepson also studied at the place and brought up the situation to his stepfather, who decided to adopt her right away. She previously lived in a foster home with a kid from the fireman school where she was initially discovered.
“Lola loves me (laughs)! She has an immense need to be with people, to be close to others. If she has someone at home she is trying to find out which room the person is in because she wants to be close at all times.”
She needed a few days to adjust to the new surroundings, but they eventually grew extremely close.
Lola and her owner José recently appeared in a video. The video shows their endearingly wholesome and funny nightly routine. Many people asked José about the camera he had in his room after the viral video.
“When it comes to the camera in my room… many people question why I have it. Well, I have it because I was kidnapped, I stayed in captivity for 9 nights, and as I undergo cancer treatment and my wife stays in another city most of the time, it’s a way for her to monitor everything.
Only the two of us have access to the cameras. So when the video went viral, I was really surprised by what is happening, and maybe even a little scared because we lost track of views at some point trying to keep up! People were thanking us for the video and for brightening their day.
There was one message, in particular, that stood out to me. A father thanked me personally because his son who is autistic loved the video and keeps watching and laughing whenever he is sad. Honestly, this is priceless.”
Lola decides to get slightly hyperactive when she notices her owners getting ready for bed.
The dog will not go to sleep without receiving extra pats and playtime. “Lola is very important to me because I’m undergoing cancer treatment and I go through depression when I do chemo,” Jose said when we asked him about Lola.
“She makes me happy, it’s a very strong bond, I found out that I needed her right when my stepson brought her in, saying she was made for me”
