When you’re found doing anything wrong, the best course of action is typically a brief but sincere apology. The second-best course of action? Run to the couch, freeze, and casually act as if nothing happened.
Arlo chose the second option.
Normally peaceful, Arlo the Italian greyhound occasionally likes to dig in his bed, although he rarely causes damage. When Garry Mill, his father, discovered him with food in his mouth, he realized what he was up to.
Mill used a mini-camera he had installed to keep an eye on Arlo when he was away from the house. For fear of upsetting or confusing Arlo with the unexpected noise, Mill typically avoids using the microphone function of the camera. But that particular day, Mill made the decision to try it out because of fear that Arlo may eat the bed’s filling.
“As soon as I spoke to him he froze and he never went back to the bed,” Mill said to The Dodo. “I didn’t realize how funny the clip was until I went home and watched it back.”
Arlo’s endearing appearance and boundless charm guarantee he won’t get into any trouble at all, especially given how much his parents adore him.
Between COVID lockdowns, Mill and his fiance Chelsea Watson adopted Arlo. The couple, who reside in Carnoustie, Scotland, wanted a dog for their new family because they had grown up among dogs. They quickly discovered the ideal fit.
“Arlo’s demeanor is amazing,” Mill said. “He is so loving and always wants to be cuddled, and wants up in my arms like a baby. He is very playful at times but crashes out quickly, and loves being in bed with us.”
Arlo even assisted Mill in making the marriage proposal to Watson while dressing in a tuxedo. “He has changed our lives in so many ways,” Mill added. “He makes us feel complete happiness when we come home after a long day at work.”
And if Arlo ever starts another boxing bout while they’re at work and gets caught? So maybe he’ll just say sorry the next time.
