We love going to sporting events because it makes us escape for a few hours. You get to cheer on your favorite players, eat delicious food and hang out with your friends. What’s not to love?! And if you’re not a sports fan, we have a feeling this video from TikTok user @br_openice is going to make you one.

You might’ve met Ripken the bat dog before as he’s the official bat collector for the Durham Bulls baseball team. But Ripken recently took his skills to the hockey rink. Watch as throws at the ceremonial puck drop. You’ll be wanting to buy tickets ASAP!

@br_openice Love how both captains went in for a paw-shake as a sign of good sportsmanship 😭 #hockey #hockeytiktoks #fyp #nhl #dogsoftiktok #dogsofttiktok ♬ original sound – BR_OpenIce

O.M.G. We’re officially starting a petition to have Ripken start every hockey game. But we also know that might spread Ripken thin, so more dogs need to train for this well-respected job.

@deadhead324 wrote, “Now this is sports.” That’s what we’re saying! Having a dog at these events would bring in so many more fans. Non-sports lovers would even start to come! @berryk319 added, “Ripken is the goodest boy ever.” There’s no one like him!

“He’s well trained. Our lab wouldn’t have dropped the puck, probably have run with it,” commented @bill02131. Same with our dogs! Can Ripkin teach a Master Class so the rest of the dogs in the world can learn to be puck droppers or bat collectors? Because we sure as heck need more Ripkins in the world.
