A golden retriever named Arrow’s surprising response to chemotherapy caused the internet to burst out in tears of laughter.

The owner of the dog named Arrow claimed that when he began chemotherapy to treat his disease, he reacted in a way that she didn’t anticipate in a post she published on TikTok earlier in October under the username theanxiousmess_.

Prior to playing a clip uploaded by his physicians, in which he can be seen all cheerful and performing his favorite routines for them, she can be seen in her video feeling depressed in the car and contemplating how depressed her dog must be receiving chemotherapy.

“Thinking my dog is probably unhappy while he’s at the vet getting his chemotherapy,” the caption for the photo reads, followed by “my dog cheerfully performs tricks for the vet techs.”

@theanxiousmess_ He loves the staff there so much.💜 #goldenretriever #dog #caninecancer #fyp ♬ sad dougie – brenna

One user, Kathleen Harper, commented: “Maybe he knows they’re trying to help him get better.” And Abbi501 said: “My dog absolutely LOVES going to the vet. She gets so excited that she literally starts whining and barking as soon as I pull into the parking lot.”

Bethany wrote: “I was a tech for a while and the chemo patients are treated like celebrities. everyone loves them.” And Amy added: “My dog literally cried Thursday because he had to wait and he was like they see me why are they not patting me.”

Another user, marysburgers wrote: “they probably cuddle him to bits, what a handsome lad.” And Bumblinbee said: “We started referring to my vet’s office as day camp for my dog when he was sick. the staff were OBSESSED with him and he loved attention.”

Tekla said: “I work at a vet and absolutely thrive off of animals being excited to be there. We give copious amounts of treats to achieve this.” KC Young added: “My golden LOVED chemo because of the staff. He knew where every treat drawer was. Been in remission for 3 years now! Prayers for Arrow.”
