Hallee Fuqua wanted a dog for Christmas for a very long time. Her parents always told their dog-loving daughter she should wait until after she graduates college to get one. Well, when Hallee started volunteering at the local Humane Society of Stillwater in Oklahoma, she had no idea how much her life was about to change.

One of the dogs Hallee worked with was a mixed breed named Rambo. The girl’s parents decided to surprise their daughter by adopting Rambo for her. The secret was kept safe for three weeks until the big reveal came shortly before Christmas.

Rambo is a Plott Hound and Mountain Cur mixed dog, and Hallee just fell in love with the pooch.

Jackie Ross-Guerrero, the shelter’s director, told ABC News, “We pulled a little white lie when she would come in so she would think he was still under adoption.”

Little did Hallee know that the dog was going to be hers. She found out on social media that Rambo was adopted two days before the big reveal. She had no idea the dog was coming home to her.
