How far would you be willing to go to meet the love-of-your-life, or the dog of your life that you felt would be the perfect addition to your family? CBS8.com shared the story about how sweet Harvey came to find his forever home with a family who drove over 1300 miles to adopt the dog with a facial deformity that gives him a distinctive lopsided grin.

A Humane Officer with the San Diego County Department of Animal Services named Joy Ollinger had shared the photo of sweet Harvey to social media in hopes of helping the pup find his forever home. Sherry Lankston, her children, and their dog made the trek from Seattle to San Diego amid a down pouring winter storm that struck most of Southern California.

Harvey the husky immediately caught their family’s eye when they saw Ollinger’s post.

“I saw that silly grin and knew we had to meet him. It’s been a few years since we could visit our friends and favorite places in San Diego, so why not? Roadtrip,” Lankston said. Lankston was concerned that Harvey might have already been adopted by the time the family arrived, but it was a chance they were willing to take.

Lankston and her son were in luck and were able to adopt Harvey and start the long journey back to his new forever home. Here’s wishing this family all the best with their adorable new addition!
