Dr. Andrew Mathis visited a reclusive Shepherd named called Jimmy during what was called   “Pardon Week” in the animal shelter system in Macon, Georgia. Although the dog huddled into a corner of his cage and was initially unresponsive, Dr. Mathis persisted in giving him hand licks, snacks, and just side-by-side hang time.

Eventually, as you’ll see in the following video, Jimmy and three of his furry mates came back to life. They started playing together. Dr. Mathis adopted them.

This video — while posted a decade ago — is a touching PSA to who we can make a difference by adopting a shelter animal. As stated in the clip, they are not broken. They just need a little attention and tender care.
