The California hamlet of Pajaro no longer need rescue teams for its animal residents after a week of severe rain and flooding. Almost 200 animals have been successfully rescued in the past week, and some of them have already been reunited with their devoted owners.

According to an SPCA Facebook post, they are now taking care of 216 animals. Pet dogs, cats, chickens, birds, rabbits, and iguanas are among these creatures. See this quick KCAL News video for further details on the flood rescue operations.

Anybody can see how successful these heroes’ rescue efforts were. Pet owners were a significant component of the puzzle as well, since many of the animals were found as a result of recommendations from the owners.

The only casualties, according to KSBW, were a few birds in low-to-the-ground cages. With the exception of a few, every pet who was unable to go with their owner was eventually saved. These animals have undoubtedly still through a very trying time.

They are hungry, but overall they’re fine, according to Beth Brookhouser, a representative for SPCA Monterey County. They have a slender build. We are cleaning them because many got floodwater on them. It must mean the world to the pet owners of these animals, many of whom have yet to be reunited with their furry, feathery, and scaly companions, that we are providing them with fresh food, fresh water, plenty of comfortable, cozy bedding, and making sure they are loved.

Donations of any amount (or of pet food) would be greatly appreciated by SPCA Monterey County, who care for so many animals and whose shelter and other services, including a pet food and supplies pantry, are all provided free of charge.
