Luna’s family was having problems getting their lost puppy home, but 5-month-old Bowen’s fussing worked like a charm.
Luna the Australian shepherd dog was happily still close by after becoming separated from her Virginia owners earlier this month. Neither a clever trap nor a kind bystander brought her home in the end. Instead, it was Bowen
Myers, a 5-month-old infant, wailing.
Amber Myers, the mother of Bowen and the owner of Luna, tells DailyPaws, “I guess she loves him a lot more than we ever imagined she did.”
Luna, who is 8 months old and adores playing, giggling, and having her belly rubbed, fled on the afternoon of February 5. Apparently, Luna escaped from the family’s truck when they were performing errands close to their Fries, Virginia, home, according to Myers.
The rest of the weekend was spent searching for Luna by the family. They turned to Sandra Colston, a kind employee of the Missing Animal Response Network, who created a useful map for them. Myers said that they also laid out their clothing for Luna to smell alongside her kennel.
The family continued looking for Luna after seeing her on a trail camera on Monday morning. She was spotted by Myers’brother-in-law and niece, who requested that she return. She ran off quickly. “It spooked her,” Myers utters.
On Facebook, Myers posted the following message that morning: “If you were to see her PLEASE do not call for her she WILL RUN.”
Dogs who go missing or get lost will exhibit behavior that is virtually unrecognizable. When they’re in unfamiliar places, their impulses to fight or flee will take over. Myers claimed that Luna was ‘a completely different dog while she was lost,’ refusing to even visit her sibling dogs, which were kept by the Myers’; neighboring relatives. “This is so sad to see her this way,” Travis, Myers’ husband texted her.
The majority of the family went out seeking again later on Monday. While the others searched on foot, Amber’s sister, her 10-year-old daughter Braelynn, and Bowen were seated in a truck.
When Bowen started to cry, his aunt grabbed up the crying child and got out of the car. Unexpectedly, Luna hurried over to see her infant brother. His screams were what drew her in, according to Myers.
Although Myers had heard that dogs and children do form unique ties, the family had no intention of making Bowen cry. They can enjoy playing and lying down together now that they are back together. The idea of a belly rub seems far more enjoyable than a solo outdoor expedition.
