Doc’s owner brought him to the shelter and claimed they could no longer care for him because he was unable to walk. The canine was added to the list for immediate euthanasia.

But Mckenzie, the boy’s foster mother, became emotionally attached to him and had to take him in.

She wouldn’t allow him to be defeated that quickly. She and her fiance were determined to carefully consider all of their alternatives before making such a significant decision, even if Doc’s entire spine protruded from his back.

They took the dog to the vet, who diagnosed him with degenerative myelopathy and recommended death.

Doc was sent back home after Mckenzie and Grant requested that they could at least give him one last day.

But as they raised the boy’s back legs with a crude brace, they noticed that he could move them and attempt to walk by himself. This completely altered the perception that he served no purpose in the background.

Doc should not be put to death! Grant and McKenzie would keep working with him, and the dog kept getting better.

He quickly learned how to move about, run, and play with the other dogs. They have been placed in his life for a reason, and he will forever be a part of their lives. 🙂
