The little puppy who was seen by onlookers at the beach running around a parking lot for Junipero before he made the decision to elude rescuers and swam out to sea has found happiness! The dog was doggy paddling out to the swim line when one of the brave lifeguards grabbed his rescue board and buoy and headed out to fetch him. But, despite saving the dog’s life, the rescuers were unable to find his owners.

The little, swimming lapdog is safe and well at home, according to a Facebook statement from the Long Beach Fire Department.

Tofu, the pup, and his family were found on Monday.

The post’s caption states, “Our new friend Tofu is doing wonderful. We had a few fun shots during his stay with us. We are delighted that he is back with his family! Although we miss him around Long Beach Lifeguard Association HQ.

Many are thrilled to hear about this joyful reunion, and @JoanOleska and @IrmaCamp both leave comments saying, “Thank you for saving that adorable dog!!! God Bless you!” and “Fantastic, thank you for the rescue. Y’all are wonderful!”

It’s wonderful to hear that the dog is back in his home with his family. Let’s just hope that the next time he decides to swim, it will be in a body of water much smaller than the Pacific.
