A 31-year-old woman named Jenna Laigle was walking her Golden Retriever, Otis, down a field in Torrington, Connecticut. But all of a sudden, Otis grew anxious and became distracted. Jenna was shocked when the 6-year-old pooch led her to a litter of 6 newborn bunny rabbits scattered on the ground lifelessly.

Jenna understood that the baby rabbits were separated from their mama. However, Otis’ immediate concern was over the survival of the vulnerable younglings, more so because the area was known to be a hunting ground for predators like hawks. The little ones ignited his paternal instincts as he took it upon himself to protect them!

Otis gently secured the fragile babies in his mouth one by one and placed them between his sheltered paws. Once he had gathered the distressed bunnies, he kept licking and nuzzling them until they were all pacified. Meanwhile, Jenna looked around and tracked down the mama’s nest for these lost bunnies.

Otis was a proud foster father as he returned the babies to their true home. His eyes gleamed with joy as he knew he made them feel safe and comforted during the crisis. Jenna says Otis has always been a “super emotional old soul”, and it’s quite natural for him to look out for animals in need. What a thoughtful and compassionate sweetheart!
